Spyderco’s Caspian Salt is a unique fixed-blade knife designed specifically for use in and around the water. It is made from H-1 steel, which uses nitrogen instead of carbon to create its steel matrix, making it completely rust-proof. The round hole in the Caspian's blade allows the idex finger to be placed through it like a ring. When gripped in this way, the knife cannot be easily dropped and the hand retains the ability to grip and pick up objects. The skeletonized full tang is overlaid with matching textured scales molded from fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN). In 1947 Mikhail Kalashnikov, the legendary Russian gun designer, created the AK-47 assault rifle. Eventually adopted by the Red Army in 1949, it became famous as the -InchPeople's Rifle-Inch. In South Africa, an enexpensive ring lock folder is sold everywhere. It's a good design, but it's constructed from sub-standard materials, is poorly made and is overpriced. And yet, millions of these knives are sold each year. Cold Steel thought they could do better and did. The Cold Steel Kudu, takes some cues from its South African competition, however the Cold Steel version is vastly superior.
